Za'atar Grilled Cheese Pitas

with Feta, White Cheddar & Sesame Seeds Herby, salty, cheesy–need we say more? | 2 Servings

In this sophisticated twist on a classic grilled cheese, start between the bread with a killer filling: Add herby za’atar spice, nutty sesame seeds, and briny feta to already-delicious-on-its-own cheddar cheese. Then, in lieu of sliced bread, stuff your cheese mixture down fluffy pitas and sizzle to melty, golden perfection. This is what we call a new-school favorite. *Nutrition values are representative of a 1/2 bundle serving.*

Instructions

1 step
  1. 1

Halve pitas. In a small bowl, combine feta cheese, white cheddar cheese, sesame seeds, 1 tsp za’atar (reserve remaining for another use), and 2 TBSP olive oil. Evenly fill pita halves with cheese mixture. Heat 2 TBSP butter and a drizzle of oil in a large pan over medium heat. Carefully add pita halves and cook, gently pressing with a spatula or heavy-bottomed pan, until cheese melts and pita is golden, 2-4 minutes per side. (Lower heat if pitas begin to brown too quickly.) Transfer grilled cheese pitas to a paper-towel-lined plate to absorb any excess grease. Serve.
