Stir-Fried Honey Sesame Pork Noodles with Tenderstem® Broccoli and Carrot Ribbons

Sweeter and thicker than soy sauce, ketjap manis is typically used in Indonesian cuisine. This condiment is a staple in our Asian style recipes and you can find it in anything from larb style salads to fried rice and noodle dishes.

  • 150 gr tenderstem broccoli
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 187.5 gr egg noodle nest
  • 360 gr british pork mince
  • 40 ml soy sauce
  • 75 gr ketjap manis
  • 22.5 gr honey
  • 2.25 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 75 ml water for the sauce
  • 2 carrots
  • 150 gr tenderstem broccoli
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 250 gr egg noodle nest
  • 480 gr british pork mince
  • 50 ml soy sauce
  • 100 gr ketjap manis
  • 30 gr honey
  • 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 100 ml water for the sauce

Instructions

  1. Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil with 1/4 tsp salt for the noodles.
Trim and peel the carrot. Use the peeler to peel long ribbons down the length of the carrot, stopping at the core.
Cut the Tenderstem® broccoli into thirds. Peel and grate the garlic (or use a garlic press).
  2. When your pan of water is boiling, add the noodles and cook until tender, 4 mins.
Once cooked, drain in a sieve and run under cold water to stop them sticking together.
  3. Meanwhile, heat a large frying pan on medium-high heat (no oil).
Once hot, add the pork mince and fry until browned, 5-6 mins. Use a spoon to break it up as it cooks, then drain and discard any excess fat.
Season with salt and pepper. IMPORTANT: Wash your hands and equipment after handling raw mince. It's cooked when no longer pink in the middle.
  4. Once the mince is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and cover to keep warm.
Wipe out your (now empty) frying pan and return to medium-high heat with a drizzle of oil.
Once hot, add the Tenderstem® and stir-fry for 2-3 mins, then add the carrot ribbons and garlic and stir-fry for 30 secs more.
Add a splash of water, then cover with a lid (or foil) and allow to cook until tender, 2-3 mins more. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. While the veg cooks, in a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, ketjap manis, honey, tomato ketchup and water for the sauce (see pantry for both amounts). TIP: If your honey has hardened, pop it in a bowl of hot water for 1 min.
Once the veg is cooked, add the cooked mince and noodles to the pan.
Pour in the sticky sauce and stir together until piping hot, 2-3 mins.
  6. When ready, share the honey pork noodles between your bowls.
    Enjoy!
